Having an analytics tool is a key priority for any business. Most tools will provide comprehensive data on traffic and user behaviour from all traffic sources. There are many enterprise solutions such as Omniture, Webtrends and Coremetrics. They can be quite robust and provide very granular information regarding all digital marketing campaigns. These tools also require an experienced driver to be able set up and disseminate all the data available.
Although we are tool agnostic, we can’t go past Google Analytics. This is a free tool which can certainly do the trick for most businesses. It can be easier to set up and has a plethora of user data and useful features such as multi channel funnel reports and visitor flow reports. The interface is simple and easy to navigate with custom dashboards and the ability to use segmentation. The amount of businesses that use GA far outnumber that of enterprise level tools due to ease of use and of course, cost – GA is free.
